The Old Testament introduces us to Jabez, who was born into difficult circumstances but refused to let that handicap hamper his performance. Jabez appears briefly on the scriptural playing field, goes for the gold, and then drops out of sight, never to be mentioned again. He doesn't make it into the "Faith Hall of Fame" in Hebrews 11, and his name may not appear on many Bible Trivia cards, but his faith challenges us, his positive attitude encourages us, and praying his poignant prayer can change our lives.
