First Samuel 25 resembles a three-act play. Following the cast's introductions, we find a description of the conflict on which the plot is centred, escalating action that leads to the climax, and a conclusion that resolves the conflict. In verses 1-3, the three primary cast members are introduced—David, Nabal, and Abigail.
