Studying the book of Revelation can be like drinking out of a fire hydrant: too much to take in at one sitting. Realizing the intensity of the back-to-back judgments that are revealed, the Lord has provided a few interludes along the way to give the reader time to pause, take stock of what has happened, and prepare for what's to come.
We enjoyed one of those interludes back in Chapter 7, and now we come to yet another interlude, which interrupts the sequence between the sixth and seventh trumpet judgments. This second interlude continues from Revelation 10:1 through 11:14. The first section (Chapter 10) shifts the emphasis temporarily from the outpouring of God's wrath on unbelievers to the consolation and encouragement of believers. John records additional information bearing on the previous events and those yet to come. This prepares him (and us) for what lies ahead.
