Hope. The overarching theme of the Christmas story is one of overwhelming expectation for a Saviour to be born. Living in a backward village in northern Israel was a young virgin, Mary, maybe no more than fourteen or fifteen years old. Known to virtually no one outside her town, Mary was favoured by God to carry His incarnate Son into the world. Shocking news, for sure. Yet rather than doubt or question, Mary trusted in the omniscient God who chose to use a relative nobody to bring Him glory.
