Nobody ever said it better than Jesus! He summarized a worry-free life in one sentence: “Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you” (Matthew 6:33). Amazing! Jesus shared this liberating truth in the middle of His Sermon on the Mount. Jesus' followers must have been hanging on His every word because His teaching was so different from the words they had heard from the pompous religious officials around them. If we analyze Jesus' sentence, we will see that it contains a command and a promise. The command relates to choosing right priorities—that's our role. And the promise relates to claiming basic provisions and God's faithfulness to meet our needs. As we follow the Lord's simple yet profound recipe to a worry-free life, we will begin to experience freedom and clarity.
