Charles R. Swindoll
“Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift.” It’s amazing that the Apostle Paul, who has the ability to find whatever word is necessary at whatever place in his writing, came to that moment where he couldn’t come up with the word. No descriptive synonym that he could find in his mind or in literature that would adequately express the significance of the gift God has given in His Son. So He coined a word, a word found nowhere else in all the Bible, translated “indescribable.”
In this Christmas-season series from Chuck Swindoll, we’re thinking about four facets of the same diamond, the diamond being Jesus Himself.
Our desire is that we will learn from these messages the importance of making the first most important part of Christmas our focus and that’s Jesus who “loved us and gave Himself for us.” If you’ve never come to know Christ, you can anticipate another empty, hollow ring around the Christmas season. It will not mean for you what it was meant to mean. But if you come to Christ, He has a way of filling the gaps in our lives and making all things new that have seemed old and trite for all our previous years.
