Charles R. Swindoll
Different people make differences in our world. Mediocre people never impact our world. One person of truth impacts the whole world.
People who are accountable usually have four qualities. Vulnerability—being capable of being wounded, showing weakness, admitting wrong. That’s vulnerability. Teachability—the willingness to learn, being quick to respond to reproof, being open to counsel. That’s teachability. Third is availability. Their lives aren’t lived in secret. People can get ahold of them—the people to whom they are accountable. Availability. They are accessible, they are touchable, they are, to coin the word, interruptable. And, fourth, honesty—committed to the truth regardless of how much it hurts, and a willingness to admit the truth no matter how humiliating the admission may be. Vulnerability, teachability, availability, and honesty are the things that mark people who are accountable.
