The second interlude in the Revelation story continues. After dining on God's unique recipe of sweet and sour scroll (Revelation 10:9-10), John not only stayed busy writing the amazing things he saw and heard, he was also given an unusual job to do.
We are then introduced to two extremely powerful and courageous witnesses, who take front-and-centre stage prophesying throughout a 42-month period. Because of God's protection, they are impervious to harm and preserved from death as they announce further judgment and bring about one plague after another. Following their ministry the protective shield is lifted and, not surprisingly, they are killed. But what occurs after that is nothing short of miraculous.
This section completes the "second woe" as yet another devastating earthquake leaves people terrified…but still not repentant.
