Motherhood seems to be on the wane these days. Birthrates are falling as more and more couples opt out of having children, choosing lives focused on more “valued” pursuits. Others look to redefine the notion of family so that it need not include a mother at all! And those who do choose children often have less idea than ever about what makes a good mother. Thankfully, the Bible offers us a portrait of a premiere mother—Mary, the mother of Jesus.
