When a man named Judas (not Iscariot) sat down one day in the first century to record some things about the Christian life, he suddenly changed his mind. Instead of presenting a calm, calculated explanation of our walk with Christ, he unloaded a blistering exposé of apostasy, exhorting his readers: “Contend [strive, battle, fight] earnestly for the faith.” Because God led Judas to change his message, we have today—in this “postcard”—some helpful guidelines on standing firm against the tide and trends of our times. In this message, in the central section (v. 5-16), we'll discover the reasons the battle is worth the bother.
