As we come to this eighth chapter, we leave the quiet interlude of Chapter 7 and return to the divine judgments that will assault planet Earth. When the seventh and final "seal judgment" is broken open, it releases the seven "trumpet judgments."

Their blasts cause even greater devastation and chaos than we witnessed in any of the previous judgments. As the trumpet blasts intensify, we are reminded of the ten plagues that God brought upon Egypt, warning Pharaoh that he must release the Hebrews from bondage (see Exodus 7:1412:36). But unlike those ancient plagues, these future "trumpet judgments" will impact the whole world.
