No one is immune to injustice. All have suffered undeserved indignities, slights, and humiliations. Some injustices are trivial and should be treated as such; others are potentially life-altering: unrelenting bullying, physical and mental abuse, false accusations, character assassination, and false imprisonment. Whenever we experience one of these injustices or others like them, everything within us cries out for justice…or vengeance. We lick our chops waiting for the day when we can strike back, telling ourselves we’ll savour every moment our enemy squirms under the heel of our boot.

But if everyone practiced the philosophy of an eye for an eye we’d all be blind. You see, grinding resentment isn’t resolved with revenge; it’s resolved with grace.
