Charles R. Swindoll
John the Baptizer was sent by God to prepare the way for Jesus. He was an ascetic who rejected worldly trappings and lived his commitment to God in the most extreme conditions. By the thousands, people flocked to the wilderness to hear him speak, but his popularity never detracted him from his mission. He shed the light of truth as a lamp illumines a room, but he was not the light of the world. He cried out the words of God, but he was not the Word. He was useful in God’s plan, but he was not indispensable. In this message, you’ll hear John testify to the glory of the One who would follow him, the One who is worthy of worship.
